Wrap yourself with natural materials. Our GOTS organic certified cotton is totally organic, non-toxic, and refreshingly breathable. Better yet, with a 400 thread count, our Cotton Duvet Cover gets softer with each wash — never fading or pilling. When it comes to bedding, it’s hard to beat the lightweight, crisp decadence of organic cotton. By using 100% GOTS organic certified cotton, our Organic Cotton Duvet Cover is not just a higher-functioning duvet cover, it’s better for you, our farmers, and the planet, too.
We manufacture our Organic Cotton Duvet in an entirely renewable and sustainable way, in compliance with the Global Organic Textile Standard — the gold standard for environmental and social responsibility. Our organic cotton has a luxurious finish and a highly breathable membrane, keeping you cool and dry. That’s because it wicks away moisture better than any synthetic material. Plus, conventional cotton is a polluted crop grown with toxins. Our cotton is ethically grown in India without pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. The result is a luxurious duvet cover with a small environmental footprint, in line with our sustainability principles.
Want unparalleled functionality from your duvet? Add our Alpaca Duvet Insert. No fiber better moderates your temperature than alpaca. By covering it in 100% GOTS certified organic cotton percale, we’ve created one of the most breathable and thermoregulating duvet inserts in the world. What’s more, the insert won’t shift or bunch up on you. And in using organic, natural, and renewable materials, our Alpaca Duvet Insert marries sustainability with luxury, made with your health — and the planet’s — at the forefront of its design.
We use corozo nut buttons to enclose our Organic Linen Duvet Cover. Corozo nuts come from the Tagua tree, native to lowland rain forests in Central and South America. The unique grain pattern of the nut makes them incredibly durable and scratch proof. Because the material is natural, the buttons will feature some variation in color. They are also a renewable and biodegradable material, and no trees are cut down for their harvest.
Our manufacturing process reduces water and electricity consumption. Our Organic Cotton Duvet Cover is pre-washed and processed to maintain a neutral pH level providing a safe touch to the skin. We’ve also worked to reduce the amount of wasted fabric during production. The effort is part of the broader environmental mission, like our Farm to Mattress concept, that drives Avocado.
Machine-wash your Organic Cotton Duvet Cover on a gentle cycle with similar colors in cold water. Use an eco-friendly detergent. Do not use fabric softeners, bleach, or whiteners. Line dry or tumble dry low and remove promptly. We do not recommend fabric softeners or dryer sheets, which reduce the absorbency of cotton. As a natural alternative, use wool dryer balls.
Our Organic Cotton Duvet Cover is MADE SAFE® certified — a rigorous scientific screening process that only allows the use of ingredients that are not known or suspected to harm human health, animals, aquatic life, or ecosystems. This is healthier for you and for the farmers that grow our cotton.
In 2019, Avocado Green Mattress became the first mattress company to become Climate Neutral Certified, effectively making our business “carbon neutral.” A year later, we took it a step further by going carbon negative — offsetting more carbon emissions than the company generates. Carbon offsets are vehicles for paying to remove carbon from the atmosphere or to prevent greenhouse gases from getting there in the first place by financing things like forest conservation or clean energy.

We stitch our Organic Cotton Duvet Cover in our Los Angeles facility with 100% GOTS organic certified cotton. Our organic cotton is grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers, so it's better for you, your family, our farmers, and the planet. Stitched in a single-ply, with 400 threads per inch (TPI). We make our duvet cover buttons from corozo nuts, a renewable and biodegradable material sourced from the Tagua tree, native to lowland rain forests in Central and South America. The unique grain pattern of the nut makes them incredibly durable and scratch proof. Because the material is natural, the buttons will feature some variation in color. No trees are cut down to harvest the nut.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®, certified by Hohenstein #18.HUS.40240. This ensures this product has passed strict testing for banned chemicals and harmful substances. MADE SAFE® certified validating all materials are not known or suspected to harm human health, animals, aquatic life, or ecosystems.
Single Ply Yarns
For standard cottons, or even most other long staple cottons, a high thread count does not translate to a better quality sheet. Using single-ply yarns, most cottons achieve a maximum thread count of around 400-500. After that, multi-ply yarn must be used, which generally indicates a lower quality cotton that needs multiple plies woven together for strength. No multi-ply yarn is used in our organic cotton sheets.

Carbon Negative Production & Shipping
Avocado is a carbon negative business. That means we voluntarily offset more than 100% of our emissions, from resource extraction to shipping, by supporting carbon offset projects through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. Our offset projects help mitigate climate change and support innovation in addressing greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
