Our Malibu Floating Bed Frame is uncompromising. We exclusively use solid 100% sustainably sourced maple to build the floating frame. Maple’s natural patina delivers a warm, elegant beauty. The hardwood is also incredibly durable, eco-friendly, and resilient. Our craftsmanship includes handsome rounded edges and dovetail joints that provide exceptional quality and strength. We build it all in our facility in Los Angeles, where we marry traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology. No nasty, VOC-emitting (volatile organic compound) glues or finishes — we build the Malibu Floating Bed Frame with the greater sustainability mission powering Avocado Green Brands at its forefront. The shop’s FSC® certification (C156318) validates that we meet the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility. Free delivery and in-home setup included.

The Malibu Floating Bed Frame requires a platform to support your mattress. The frame pairs seamlessly with our Foundation, Adjustable Bed Frame, or Eco Adjustable Bed Frame. The adjustable bed frames fit within the floating Malibu frame. Relieve tension and sleep better with an array of wellness positions — and massages — ready at the touch of a button.

Because of its abundance and shorter life span, maple is one of the most sustainable timbers. It’s also a hardwood, so it's extremely durable, resilient and long-lasting. And unlike many furniture companies that use particle board, veneers, or synthetic laminates, at Avocado, we individually handcraft all our furniture with 100% real wood. We believe in letting the rich character of the wood speak for itself. This way, every piece is original, with its own slight variations. It costs a little more to do things this way. But our customers love having unique, durable, thoughtfully crafted furniture that will last generations.

We consider every detail in the Malibu Floating Bed Frame. From the rounded edges to the dovetail joints that add durability and strength, our sturdy, real wood floating frame is both elegant and exceptionally well-made — a true heirloom that will last generations. The single-piece design looks like it’s suspended above the floor. We don’t mass produce these frames — they’re made to order for you in our FSC-certified shop in Los Angeles.

Complete your bedroom with our matching Malibu Dresser and Malibu Nightstand. Like the bed frame, we craft the dresser and nightstand in Los Angeles with sustainably harvested maple. The pieces also feature birchwood, soft-close drawers, and matte-gold finished handles. Their elegance and exceptional craftsmanship are unmatched.

Furniture paints and finishes are among the leading causes of indoor air pollution. Many are toxic and emit VOCs. In fact, the Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and particle board commonly used in furniture construction often contain known carcinogens such as Urea-formaldehyde or Phenol-formaldehyde. Our Malibu Floating Bed Frame uses non-toxic, eco-friendly Titebond II Wood Glue and Ecos Paints wood varnish. As members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, you can rest assured that our furniture supports healthier, environmentally friendly living.

Avocado is a certified B Corp and a carbon negative business. That means we voluntarily offset more than 100% of our emissions, from resource extraction all the way to shipping, by supporting carbon offset projects through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. (We also power 100% of our factory with renewable energy sources.) Our offset projects help mitigate climate change and support innovation in addressing greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

We believe in a circular economy that accounts for the life cycle of our products. That’s one reason we always use natural, biodegradable materials. What’s more, our GOTS certified California factory, which we power entirely with renewable energy, is on its way toward a Zero-Waste certification, meaning almost nothing gets thrown away. We recycle or upcycle all our material byproducts. The effort is consistent with our mission to set a new bar in environmental and social responsibility.

  • Zero-VOC Stain

  • We do not use traditional lacquers or varnishes, which typically contain harsh chemicals and have strong fumes that can cause headaches, nausea, and respiratory issues. Instead, our bed frames use a zero-VOC ECOS® WoodShield stain, which is organic, non-toxic, and odor-free. It conforms to CDPH 01350 (VOC emissions test taken at 11, 12, & 14 days for classroom and office use), as well ASTM D4236, specifically concerning oral toxicity, skin irritation, and respiratory effects.

  • Safe, Odorless Glues

  • Our assembly utilizes Titebond® wood glues, which are safe and produce no harmful fumes. They meet the requirements of ASTM D4236 for safe use with arts and crafts and have both been approved for indirect food contact.

  • Carbon Negative Production & Shipping

  • Avocado is a carbon negative business. That means we voluntarily offset more than 100% of our emissions, from resource extraction to shipping, by supporting carbon offset projects through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
