We craft our Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame with sturdy natural timber and assemble it with eco-conscious materials. We offer two constructions: maple or walnut. The slats are made of maple or walnut to match the frame. Handmade in our sustainable Los Angeles facility (just like our Green and Vegan mattresses), which marries traditional craftsmanship with high-tech capabilities, the platform adds elegance to any bedroom. Inspired by mid-century design, the bed employs clean, simple lines to create a classic piece that will stand the test of time.
A lot of furniture is mass-made with cheap particle board, synthetic laminates, or veneers. Each piece looks exactly the same. That's not how we do things at Avocado. We individually handcraft all our furniture with 100% solid, FSC®-certified wood. We believe in letting the rich character of the wood speak for itself. This way, every piece is original, with its own slight variations. It costs a little more to do things this way. But our customers love having unique, durable, thoughtfully crafted furniture that will last generations.
We only use materials that are safe for you and your family. We stain the Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame with a zero-VOC finish called ECOS® WoodShield stain, which is organic, non-toxic, and odor-free. For assembly, we use safe, fumeless Titebond Wood Glue that meets the requirements of ASTM D4236 for use with arts and crafts and has been approved for indirect food contact. All materials are American-made.
Furniture paints and finishes are among the leading causes of indoor air pollution because they emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds). In fact, the Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and particle board commonly used in furniture construction often contain known carcinogens, such as Urea-formaldehyde or Phenol-formaldehyde. Our Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame doesn't use any of these materials. As members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, you can rest assured that our Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame supports healthy, environmentally friendly living.
The angular legs highlight the simple, elegant design of our Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame. It's an heirloom piece with a timeless aesthetic — a rare piece of furniture that becomes a story, inevitably passed on from generation to generation. Plus, setup is easy. Just follow these simple instructions.
We believe in a circular economy that accounts for the life cycle of our products. That’s one reason we design our Mid-Century Modern Bed entirely with real wood. The natural materials make the bed frame biodegradable. What’s more, our GOTS certified (CU863637) California factory, which we power entirely with renewable energy, is on its way toward a Zero-Waste certification, meaning almost nothing gets thrown away. We upcycle all our material byproducts. The effort is consistent with our mission to set a new bar in environmental and social responsibility.
Every decision we make takes social and environmental implications into consideration. That's why we source the most sustainable timber and use the healthiest finishes on the planet. Our wood furniture can even earn points toward the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program — a nationally recognized rating system for sustainable building by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Zero-VOC Stain
We do not use traditional lacquers or varnishes, which typically contain harsh chemicals and have strong fumes that can cause headaches, nausea, and respiratory issues. Instead, our bed frames use a zero-VOC ECOS® WoodShield stain, which is organic, non-toxic, and odor-free. It conforms to CDPH 01350 (VOC emissions test taken at 11, 12, & 14 days for classroom and office use), as well ASTMD-4236, specifically concerning oral toxicity, skin irritation, and respiratory effects
Safe, Odorless Glues
Our assembly utilizes Titebond® wood glues, which are safe and produce no harmful fumes. They meet the requirements of ASTM D4236 for safe use with arts and crafts and have both been approved for indirect food contact. The finished bed is Greenguard Gold certified for low emissions. This means it meets the world’s most rigorous emissions standards for chemical exposure and pollutants, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Carbon Negative Production & Shipping
Avocado is a carbon-negative business. That means we voluntarily offset more than 100% of our emissions, from resource extraction to shipping, by supporting carbon offset projects through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. Our offset projects help mitigate climate change and support innovation in addressing greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
Warranty and Return Policy
All furniture sales are final, with the exception of any defects in workmanship. Defects in workmanship are covered by our 10-year warranty.
