1. WE OPERATE OUR OWN AMERICAN FACTORY

Avocado hand-tufts mattresses in our dedicated GOTS-certified organic factory in Los Angeles, California, using the finest domestic and imported materials. Operating our American factory helps Avocado's mission to offer high-quality craftsmanship, sustainable manufacturing practices, and safe and healthy working conditions. We're fully transparent. To learn more, read our annual Impact Report.

2. WE CO-OWN OUR LATEX FARMS

Avocado co-owns a farm with over 4,000 acres of the rubber tree, or Hevea Brasiliensis, in India. We tap the trees by hand to harvest and collect the sap. At our nearby processing facility, we turn the raw latex into natural (and incredibly comfortable) foam cores. That’s how we ensure our latex meets the lofty criteria outlined by the GOLS-certified organic standard.

3. WE CO-OWN OUR ORGANIC WOOL

About 180,000 of our sheep wander throughout the Himalayan foothills. Farmers herd them twice a year, when we shear them. After processing the wonder fiber in our own co-owned facility, we use the GOTS-certified organic wool in our mattresses for natural, thermoregulating luxury.

4. WE BACK UP EVERYTHING WITH CERTIFICATIONS

And we have the certifications to back it up: Global Organic Textile Standard, Global Organic Latex Standard, GREENGUARD Gold, OEKO-TEX, MADE SAFE, Eco-Institut, FSC, USDA Organic, Formaldehyde Free, and more. That means our mattresses, bedding, and furniture are validated by (many) third-parties.

5. WE ARE #1!

No, actually. The Avocado Green Mattress consistently rates as the top mattress by independent, third-party reviewers. Good Housekeeping recently named our Green Mattress the “Best Organic Mattress.” “The best part is that you don't have to sacrifice performance for an organic mattress,” they wrote. “Users love sleeping on it and told us it keeps their body weight distributed.”

6. WE ARE CLIMATE NEUTRAL CERTIFIED

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that equitable solutions to the climate crisis.

7. WE DONATE 1% OF REVENUES TO NONPROFITS

Every month, since February 2017 (every quarter, beginning in 2020), we donate money to a nonprofit that inspires us. The donations started as part of our membership to 1% For the Planet, which helps us channel 1% of mattress revenues to vetted organizations. Three years, 30 nonprofits, and a massive, demonstrable positive impact on our global community later, our Giving Program has become as fundamental to Avocado’s mission as mattresses. In April 2020, 1% for the Planet honored Avocado with their inaugural Pinnacle Award.

8. WE ARE A CERTIFIED B CORP

B Corps form a community of leaders and drive a global movement of people using business as a force for good. As a B Corp, our goal is to use our business as a force for good.
