NATURAL WOOD, MODERN DESIGN

We craft our Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame with sturdy natural timber and assemble it with eco-conscious materials. We offer two constructions: maple or walnut. The slats are made of maple or walnut to match the frame. Handmade in our sustainable Los Angeles facility (just like our Green and Vegan mattresses), which marries traditional craftsmanship with high-tech capabilities, the platform adds elegance to any bedroom. Inspired by mid-century design, the bed employs clean, simple lines to create a classic piece that will stand the test of time.

REAL, SOLID WOOD

SOLID, SUSTAINABLE, DURABLE WOOD

Because of their abundance, maple and walnut are some of the most sustainable timbers. They are also hardwoods, so they're extremely durable and long-lasting. We don't use cheap particle board, synthetic laminates, or veneers, either. Instead, we individually handcraft all our furniture with solid wood. And we believe in letting the rich character of the wood speak for itself. This way, every piece is original, with its own slight variations. It costs a little more to do things this way. But our customers love having unique, resilient, thoughtfully crafted furniture that will last generations.

SAFE, NON-TOXIC MATERIALS

SAFE, NON-TOXIC MATERIALS

We only use materials that are safe for you and your family. We stain the Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame with a zero-VOC finish called ECOS® WoodShield stain, which is organic, non-toxic, and odor-free. For assembly, we use safe, fumeless Titebond Wood Glue that meets the requirements of ASTM D4236 for use with arts and crafts and has been approved for indirect food contact. All materials are American-made.

A GREENER CHOICE

Furniture paints and finishes are among the leading causes of indoor air pollution because they emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds). In fact, the Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and particle board commonly used in furniture construction often contain known carcinogens, such as Urea-formaldehyde or Phenol-formaldehyde. Our Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame doesn't use any of these materials. As members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, you can rest assured that our Mid-Century Modern Bed Frame supports healthy, environmentally friendly living.

ZERO WASTE & BIODEGRADABLE

PROJECT ZERO WASTE

Avocado is always seeking innovative ways to be more sustainable — while never compromising the luxury feel of our products. From materials to manufacturing and shipping, we understand that every small decision contributes to our larger impact. Implementing sustainable, zero-waste practices is essential if we want to make meaningful strides in the fight against climate change. In 2022, by being intentional about our materials and manufacturing, we expanded our production facility footprint from two to five while still increasing the amount of waste we diverted from landfills by 9%, achieving an overall waste diversion rate of 78%. Our goal is at least an 80% diversion rate. Read more about Project Zero Waste.
