Our Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector is made with two layers of organic cotton. Sandwiched between these layers is an ultra-thin, breathable waterproofing layer made from polyurethane derived from Susterra® propanediol. This propanediol is sourced from natural corn starch and is a USDA-certified bio-based product. Unlike traditional petrochemical alternatives such as 1,4-butanediol (BDO), Susterra® propanediol is renewably sourced and generates up to 48% fewer greenhouse gas emissions from cradle-to-gate (raw material to factory gate). This means it is plant-based and petrochemical-free, utilizing sustainable and renewable resources. Our waterproof protectors are manufactured in Pakistan in a GOTS-certified factory, ensuring high social and environmental responsibility standards. Additionally, no fire retardants or antimicrobial treatments are used in our products. It is a GOTS-certified product.

Our Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector is designed to protect your mattress from everyday spills, sweat, and life’s occasional accidents — without relying on thick plastic or synthetic coatings. Just like our mattresses, our waterproof mattress protectors have been rigorously tested using advanced techniques, including Liquid Chromatographic/Tandem Mass Spectrometer (LC/MS/MS) and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), for 241 PFAS substances. This testing method is superior to generic organic fluorine screening tests, which are often inaccurate and fail to detect specific PFAS compounds. Test results indicate that our waterproof mattress protectors contain no detectable amounts of PFAS. Avocado is the only brand that publishes detailed PFAS testing results.

Our Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector is designed for easy care and long-lasting protection. Wash your protector with an eco-conscious laundry detergent before first use, ensuring it is free from any manufacturing residues. Avoid using bleach to maintain the integrity of the organic cotton fibers. Tumble dry on low or hang it on a line until thoroughly dry. Do not iron. You may notice that it takes up to three washes for the protector to reach its proper size. We intentionally oversized the protector, knowing that the 100% cotton material would naturally shrink to a perfect fit.
