The Mid-Century Modern Nightstand is part of our Mid-Century Modern Collection — we handcraft each piece in our sustainable Los Angeles facility, which marries traditional craftsmanship with high-tech capabilities. Made with solid, responsibly sourced walnut or maple and assembled with eco-conscious materials, the nightstand keeps your phone, book, and other essentials tucked away but within arm’s reach. Just like the matching bed frame and dresser, the heirloom piece features clean lines and classic elements — like angular legs and soft close drawers — inspired by mid-century design.

No particleboard. No fiberboard. Nothing hollow. We craft our Mid-Century Modern Nightstand with solid walnut or maple wood. Both are high-quality hardwoods that are resilient, sustainable, and long-lasting — an ideal choice for furniture. And the woods' beautiful, natural patinas add to their exceptional appeal. We believe in letting the rich character of the wood speak for itself. This way, every piece is original, with its own slight variations. We individually handcraft all our furniture with 100% solid wood. It costs a little more to do things this way. But our customers love having unique, durable, thoughtfully crafted furniture that will last generations.

We use non-toxic materials that don’t emit harmful VOCs or odors. Feel better knowing your nightstand is safe for you, your family, and the environment. We assemble them with Titebond® wood glues, which don’t produce harmful fumes, and ECOS® wood stains.

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable solutions to the climate crisis.

Furniture paints and finishes are among the leading causes of indoor air pollution because they emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds). In fact, the Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and particle board that is commonly used in furniture construction often contain known carcinogens, such as Urea-formaldehyde or Phenol-formaldehyde. Our Mid-Century Modern Nightstand is GREENGUARD Gold certified for low emissions and Formaldehyde Free certified by UL Environment. That means it’s scientifically proven to meet some of the world's most rigorous, third-party emissions standards for chemical exposure and pollutants, such as VOCs, formaldehyde, and phthalates.

PROJECT ZERO WASTE
Avocado is always seeking innovative ways to be more sustainable — while never compromising the luxury feel of our products. From materials to manufacturing and shipping, we understand that every small decision contributes to our larger impact. In 2022, by being intentional about our materials and manufacturing, we expanded our production facility footprint from two to five while still increasing the amount of waste we diverted from landfills by 9%, achieving an overall waste diversion rate of 78%. We craft our furniture, including our Mid Century Modern Collection, in our FSC®-certified Los Angeles woodshop, where we make everything to order with exceptional attention to quality, durability, and detail. An FSC®-certified facility only uses timber in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers while ensuring it sustains economic viability.
