Note: Our toddler pillow is approximately 2 inches longer than some non-organic options on the market, providing more room, with a height of approximately 3.5 inches. For safety reasons, this product is not adjustable and is not intended for children under 2 years old. Our Organic Toddler Pillows are intentionally designed without zippers — for a safer, simpler, and truly organic sleep experience. The contents are securely sewn shut, with no zipper of any kind. (Some brands use zippers without pull tabs, which can still be moved and therefore pose a safety risk.)

Natural Materials

For a luxurious and premium finish, we use GOTS-certified organic cotton (CU863637) in a soft, natural color blended with 3% elastane for functional stretch and enhanced durability — fully compliant with GOTS standards. The fill is made from GOLS-certified organic latex shreds and natural, GOTS-certified organic kapok fiber. The latex is ≥95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard. It has also been independently tested for non-toxicity by eco-INSTITUT label (119-34212-001) and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX (19.HIN.79546 HOHENSTEIN HTTI).

Organic fibers are naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew. Unlike microfibers made from polyester or polyamide, natural fibers do not trap heat or moisture, and they do not off-gas unsafe levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

We never use PLA (polylactic acid) fibers. While sometimes marketed as “plant-based,” PLA is a processed bioplastic that behaves like polyester and is not biodegradable under normal conditions. It’s also not GOTS-certified and can be blended with synthetics. We rely only on pure, natural, and certified organic fibers for genuine comfort and sustainability.

Most pediatric guidelines recommend waiting until a child is at least two years old before introducing a pillow. Infants and young toddlers should sleep on a flat surface without pillows, blankets, or soft objects, which can pose a suffocation risk. Once your child has transitioned out of a crib and is sleeping in a toddler bed, a pillow can support head and neck alignment. Always consult your pediatrician before introducing any sleep accessory. Our Organic Toddler Pillow is designed for children aged two and up.
Three things matter most: materials, certifications, and size. For materials, look for what's inside, not just what's on the label. Many toddler pillows marketed as "organic" or "natural" are filled with synthetic polyester, PLA (a processed bioplastic), or polyamide fibers — none of which are organic. For certifications, finished-product standards like OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I (the most restrictive tier, specifically designed for products used by babies and toddlers), GOTS, MADE SAFE®, and GREENGUARD Gold verify the pillow as it arrives in your child's bed, not just one ingredient inside it. For size, a toddler pillow should be smaller than a standard adult pillow — our Organic Toddler Pillow measures 20" × 12" — with a low, gentle loft appropriate for a small frame.

The kapok — harvested from the seed pods of the kapok tree — is hollow at the core, giving the fill a soft, breathable loft. Most toddler pillows that claim to be organic or natural are filled with synthetic materials — polyester, PLA bioplastics, or polyamide fibers — inside an organic cotton cover. No PFAS were detected. Both are 20" × 12" and use the same GOLS-certified organic latex and GOTS-certified organic kapok fill. The key difference is safety: the Toddler Pillow is sealed shut so a child cannot access the fill. The Mini Pillow has an adjustable zipper, designed for adults who want to customize loft. Replace the pillow when it no longer holds its shape or when your child has outgrown the 20" × 12" size — typically around age five to seven, depending on the child's frame. Organic latex retains its loft and resilience significantly longer than synthetic polyester or PLA fill, which tend to compress and go flat within a year. When your child is ready for a full-size pillow, the Avocado Green Pillow with adjustable fill can be dialed to a lower loft appropriate for a smaller frame and increased over time as they grow. Spot clean the organic cotton cover with cold water and hang dry. Do not bleach. The fill is sealed inside the pillow and should not be removed. Adding an organic toddler waterproof pillow protector is especially recommended for young children — it protects against spills and accidents while keeping the pillow's organic cotton cover clean between spot cleanings.
