A STORY WE ALL SHARE

The choices we make about what we buy, where it comes from, and how it's made have a direct impact on the health of people, communities, and our “Little Blue Planet." At Avocado, this belief guides the products we make and the actions we take: to inspire healthy and sustainable living, while transforming what it means to be a socially conscious business.

Created in partnership with our friends at The Mill, all profits from the sale of this hardcover book are donated to 1% for the Planet® — an international nonprofit organization whose members contribute at least one percent of their verified annual sales to urgent environmental and social causes, regardless of profitability. As a Climate Neutral Certified business — with verified net-negative carbon footprint across the entire scope of our business — we are proud to share this urgent message. We invite you to learn more and join us.

OUR BRAND ANTHEM AS INSPIRATION

This children’s book is featured in one of our new brand anthem videos. The script in the video below is the exact text found within our children’s book, brought to life with delightful original illustrations. Why? We believed the story was so important to tell that we decided to concurrently create the actual children’s book. Now it is for sale here on our website, as well as on Amazon. And to surprise and delight our customers, the book is included in the box with all crib mattresses to help educate youth and the young at heart alike.

RESPONSIBLY

PRINTED IN THE USA

The Little Blue Planet is intentionally printed on uncoated Envirographic paper made 100% Post Consumer Waste. This eco-friendly process diverts waste from landfills and returns it to the paper manufacturing stream. The inks are soy-based. The paper is chlorine-free and FSC® certified. And the printing was beautifully done in Chicago.

TEACHING ABOUT
CLIMATE CHANGE

The Little Blue Planet was written and created to tell one of the most important stories of our time: the story of climate change. We encourage you to use this book as a tool to talk with children about what we can do to protect and respect our Little Blue Planet — our one true home. As a bonus, on the inside of the book’s jacket, you’ll find an educational poster, which can be read, discussed, and hung up in your home or classroom as a reminder of the changes we can make and the ways in which everyone can live a little more green.

PLASTIC OCEANS INTERNATIONAL

FEATURED NONPROFIT
People buy 500 billion plastic water bottles worldwide every year. More than 90 percent of all plastics are never recycled. The result? Eight million tons of plastic dumped in the oceans annually. The consequences are devastating — diminished ecosystems and wildlife as well microplastics in our own food and water systems. That’s why Plastic Oceans International is on a mission to end plastic pollution. Through advocacy, activism, education, and science, the nonprofit hopes to change the world’s attitude toward plastic and thereby influence public policy and consumer and corporate behavior.
