We craft our Alpaca Duvet Insert with best practices for safe, sustainable, and renewable textile manufacturing, in compliance with the Global Organic Textile Standard — the gold standard in environmental and social responsibility. The cotton percale encasing the natural alpaca fibers is GOTS-certified organic. Organic certified cotton is more breathable than synthetic alternatives. Our duvet insert is not just high-functioning, it’s also better for you, our farmers, and the planet, too. That’s because conventional cotton is a polluted crop grown with toxins. Our cotton is ethically grown in India without pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.

TWO WEIGHTS FOR EVERY SEASON
We craft our Alpaca Duvet Insert in two weights — all season and lightweight. The lightweight version is better-suited for warmer months and climates, while we design the thicker, all-season option for year-round snuggling. Keep in mind that alpaca wool and organic cotton are extremely breathable and thermoregulating — effectively moderating your body temperature so that you’re either cool or warm when you need to be. As a result, both weights will have versatile uses.
SIMPLE CARE
Spot clean only. We recommend a duvet cover — like our Organic Linen Duvet Cover or our Organic Cotton Duvet Cover — to avoid everyday wear and stains. Occasionally hang the insert in direct sun to restore freshness. Frequent fluffing will help retain its loft.

In 2019, Avocado Green Mattress became the first mattress company to become Climate Neutral Certified, effectively making our business “carbon neutral.” A year later, we took it a step further by going carbon negative — offsetting more carbon emissions than the company generates. It's lightweight, temperature and moisture regulating, flame resistant, and antimicrobial. And we fill our Alpaca Duvet Insert with 100% Peruvian alpaca fiber. Our lightweight Alpaca Duvet Insert has 2,100 grams per square meter of 28-30 micron alpaca fiber. Our 4 season version has 2,800 grams per square meter of 28-30 micron alpaca fiber. To enclose the fiber, we stitch a layer of GOTS-certified organic cotton percale. We recommend a duvet cover — our Alpaca Duvet Insert pairs perfectly with our Organic Linen Duvet Cover and our Organic Cotton Duvet Cover.
