Add Comfort & Luxury
with a Natural Latex
Avocado Green® Mattress Toppers are made with the finest natural and organic materials, including eco-INSTITUT certified, 100% natural Dunlop latex harvested from tree-tapped and sustainable sources; OEKO-TEK Standard 100 certified natural New Zealand wool; and GOTS certified organic cotton. Designed to rest on top of your existing mattress, they change the comfort of your existing mattress — contouring to your body's natural curves with added cushioning and luxury.
The Best Natural Materials:
NATURAL LATEX RUBBER
Avocado Mattress Toppers feature 100% natural Dunlop latex rubber foam, made from sustainably harvested sources. It’s an eco-friendly, high-performance material, offering resilience, durability, and temperature control that far exceeds synthetic, blended or petroleum-based polyurethane foams.
JOMA NEW ZEALAND WOOL
Wool does what other materials can not — it wicks away moisture, stays fresh, and acts as a natural fire barrier. It’s also naturally anti-microbial, resistant to dust mites, and offers natural temperature control (to complement our natural latex). Our Joma New Zealand Wool’s quality is some of the best in the world.
CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON
Our luxurious covers are made with premium, certified organic cotton — one of the softest, most breathable and most comfortable fabrics available. It’s cool, wicks moisture and, better still, boasts the most stringent Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification.
Our mattress toppers use 2 inches of 100% natural Dunlop latex, which is available in 2 firmness options. If your current mattress is too soft, our Firm Topper (which uses D75 medium-firm natural latex) will add gentle support and resilience. If your existing mattress is too firm, our Plush Topper (which uses D65 soft natural latex) will provide a more cloud-like, luxury-plush feel.
STAY COOL & DRY
Most mattress toppers are simply a slab polyurethane foam or latex. Not ours. Our toppers mimic the cushioning layers of our mattress. To keep you cool and dry, our toppers feature a generous layer of Joma® New Zealand Wool, quilted under the cotton ticking and the latex core. Why is wool so important? Because of its singular thermoregulation properties. Wool wicks away moisture, adds bounce, and allows air to circulate naturally. This helps keep you cool when its warm and warm when its cool.
WITH NATURAL WOOL
CONVENIENT ZIPPER ACCESSWith a natural cotton canvas bottom, your topper is designed to stay snugly in place. But should you ever need to access the latex inside to make a subtle adjustment, a convenient brass zipper (with organic cotton taping, of course) along the bottom perimeter provides easy access.
SAFE & NON-TOXICOur green mattress toppers are made with natural and organic materials, and they are designed to promote health, wellbeing and sustainability. No petroleum-based polyurethane foams, memory foams, chemical adhesives or chemical fire retardants are used.
Our eco-friendly mattress toppers are made-to-order by hand in California. Hand-worked features include double-stitched seams, reinforced top and bottom perimeters, an organic cotton canvas base and a brass zipper along the inside base. The quality and workmanship can be seen and felt.
Our mattress toppers are GREENGUARD Gold Certified by UL Environment. It means they’re scientifically proven to meet some of the world’s most rigorous, third-party emissions standards for chemical exposure and pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde and phthalates. Few mattress toppers qualify for this gold standard. For a deeper dive into indoor air quality, pollutants and your health, visit our Greenguard Gold Certification page.

100% Natural Dunlop Latex
We use 100% natural Dunlop latex in our mattress toppers because it is more eco-friendly than Talalay latex (which requires more chemical processing). Our Dunlop latex is sourced from tree-tapped and sustainable sources in Asia and is eco-INSTITUT® certified (tested for hazardous materials and substances) by our latex manufacturer. Dunlop latex is naturally antimicrobial, cooler than memory foam, and also more durable than Talalay latex. On our plush mattress topper, we use one seamless layer of soft Dunlop latex (D65 / 14-19 ILD); while our firm mattress topper uses medium-firm Dunlop latex (D75 / 20-25 ILD). No blended or synthetic latex is used, there are no seams to break down over time, and no chemical adhesives.
Natural New Zealand Joma® Wool
The benefits of Joma® wool’s complex and natural physio-chemical structure are endless: it wicks away moisture, keeps your mattress smelling fresh, and acts as yet another all-natural fire barrier. It’s breathable — both warm and cool when you need it. Its natural crimp gives it bounce, body and soft support characteristics. And it’s also non-allergenic (ideal for those who suffer allergies to feather and down or synthetic bedding products) and a renewable resource. No additives or synthetics are added to the wool. It is scoured with a biodegradable detergent that meets stringent EU standards, then treated, before being rinsed again and steamed. At Avocado, we add a layer of pure, naturally crimped Joma® New Zealand Wool from (1 ounce per square foot) under the certified organic cotton ticking in every mattress. Joma New Zealand Wool is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified — a globally uniform testing and certification system for all stages of textile production. This certification ensures that products are free from harmful substances. Vegan? Explore our Avocado Vegan Mattress Toppers.
Certified Organic Cotton Cover
For a luxurious and premium finish, we use a breathable organic cotton / poly-blend 4-way stretch-knit (rather than a traditional weave) in a soft, natural color, and GOTS-certified by our supplier. To keep the topper from slipping, the bottom is made with an organic cotton canvas. The top and bottom perimeters feature a distinctive hand-stitched green tape edges (double stitched), and there is a brass zipper made with organic cotton taping along the bottom edge.

A law label is a legally required label on mattress products. It specifies the interior filling materials, using government regulated language. Few companies share this information prior to your purchase. We believe differently. Here’s what the legal tag on a Avocado Green Mattress Topper (Queen size) actually says: Made in California with internal materials (based on weight) consisting of Natural Latex (67%), Natural Wool Fiber (31%), and Certified Organic Cotton (2%). Note: NO polyurethane foams, NO memory foams, NO synthetic foams, NO latex blends, NO chemical adhesives, and NO chemical flame retardants are used!
If my old mattress is too hard, uncomfortable or causes joint or pressure-point pain, will a mattress topper help? Yes! It will add gentle, resilient cushioning. It has the potential to improve your sleep experience.
If my existing mattress has a dip or sag in the middle, will a topper help? No. We would recommend purchasing a new mattress.
If I have added a topper to my standard Avocado Green Mattress, will I essentially be creating a pillow-top mattress? Yes. The end result and sleeping experience will be very similar, and you can select your firmness preference for the latex in the topper.
What maintenance is required? Occasional turning (once every other month) is suggested to promote longevity. No flipping is required.
Can I add a two twin toppers to a King size mattress? Yes. Two Twin XL toppers can be placed side by side on a King-size mattress, allowing you to make one side firm and one side plush.
Which topper is best for my sleeping position? Back and stomach sleepers tend to prefer a firmer topper, while side sleepers tend to opt for a softer topper.
